If you’re looking for some fun and easy Halloween cupcake designs, then I’ve got just the thing for you!
Everyone loves cupcakes! They are party friendly, and the possibilities are endless. But I’m not that artistic, and if you’re the same way as I am then keep scrolling!
The great thing about these cupcake designs is that they all use simple ingredients that we can find! We don’t have to buy crazy things and have tons of leftovers that we will never eat again.
I tried my best to be as simple as possible. I used a round tip and just changed the buttercream colors here and there and added some decorations that you can find at your local store.
Easy Halloween Cupcake Designs
In the Halloween cupcake picture, I used my delicious Triple Chocolate cake recipe and just made half the recipe to get 12 cupcakes. You can also use my Pumpkin cake and bake them into cupcakes. Or if you really need something simple and quick a cake box will do just fine! Just make sure the cupcakes have cooled before frosting.
Halloween Cupcake Decorating Supplies List:
- Cupcake flavor of choice, I used my Triple chocolate recipe and halved the recipe to get 12 cupcakes.
- Vanilla Buttercream
- Disposable Piping bags
- Round tip
- Gel Food Coloring
Pumpkin cupcake:
To make these pumpkin cupcakes I just used a round tip and piped some orange buttercream on. This step is completely optional but if you want to create leaves on the stems, fill a piping bag with just a small amount of green buttercream and then while squeeze the piping bag cut an upside down “v” the end of the tip. To pipe the leaf, lightly squeeze the forward and then pull out create a leaf. Practice a few times before pipping on the cupcake. To create vines just fill another bag with green buttercream and then just cut a small tip at the end to pipelines.

Simple Bat:
This is the easiest one! In a piping bag with the a round tip fill it with some purple buttercream and pipe on the cupcake. Fill the bat mold with the melted chocolate and set in the fridge for 5 minutes until set or you can let it sit on the counter until set. Once the bat has set carefully pull the mold and take out the chocolate bat and sprinkle some sprinkles on and then you’re done!

Candy Corn Swirl
Don’t be too scared to make this one even though it does look a little intimidating.
Take equal amounts of the different colored buttercreams and wrap them individually into cling wrap. Wrap them into long logs and then cut the bottom of the cling wrap and then place them into the piping bag with a round tip. You should not see any cling wrap at the bottom of the piping bag. Another tip is making sure that all 3 buttercream colors are inside the round tip, that way they will all have the same amount of buttercream pushing out as your pipe.
Please do not pipe on the cupcake yet. You will have to push some buttercream out until you see all three colors and then you can pipe on the cupcakes. Top the cupcakes with a candy corn in the middle.

Sprinkle Witch:
My favorite! Fill a piping bag with a round tip and some green food coloring. Pipe a small amount of buttercream on the cupcake and then take the Halloween sprinkles and just lightly let the sprinkles stick to the sides of the buttercream. Pipe another large dollop of buttercream on top of it. Split open a Halloween Oreo cupcake and place a Hershey kiss in the middle of the Oreo filling and then top it on top of the cupcake.
